Homemade Gluten Free Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/8 cup coconut oil melted
  • 1/2 cup coconut palm sugar
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk full fat, canned
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup if vegan

Instructions

  1. Combine the coconut oil, sugar, milk and honey in a small sauce pan.
  2. Cook over medium heat until the caramel sauce starts to boil.
  3. Let the sauce continue to boil for 2 minutes.
  4. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 10-15 more minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. You'll know the sauce is ready when it becomes thicker and darker in color.
  6. Remove from heat, and allow it to cool first if adding it to a frozen dessert.
