Peach Strawberry Sauce

Breakfast is a big deal in our house, and pancakes even more so! My kids love having a hot meal to start their day, and I like making sure it’s something nutritious that will help fuel them. So, syrup drenched sugary gf flour pancakes? Not in our house, unless I want to experience the toddler sugar crash in all its glory half an hour later. Parents, you know what I’m talking about!

Instead, we use a grain free pancake blend packed with blanched almond flour and top it with different kinds of fruit. Sometimes, I puree the fruit by itself, other times I cook it on the stove top or bake it in the oven. This time, I made a combination of pureed and diced fruit and it was delicious.

It’s summertime, and that means it’s peach season, which are my favorite! I literally use peaches in everything I can think of these days from smoothies to salsas and can’t seem to get enough 🙂 . For the pancake fruit topping, I diced ripe peaches and strawberries, used their natural juices and added a small amount of maple syrup to the blender to give it some extra sweetness. Here’s the recipe. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! While we made the sauce to top pancakes, it would also go great over vanilla cake or with biscuits.

Peach Strawberry Sauce

This recipe is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, paleo and free of the top 8 most common allergens. It makes four servings.



  1. 2 ripe organic peaches
  2. 6 large ripe organic strawberries
  3. 3 tablespoons of pure maple syrup


  1. Wash the fruit and peel the peaches.
  2. Dice the peaches, leaving a quarter of an inch of the peach around the pit. Set aside in a small bowl.
  3. Squeeze the leftover peach over a food processor to get out the extra peach juice.
  4.  Dice 4 of the strawberries into small bite size pieces. Add to the small bowl.
  5. Add the last 2 strawberries to the food processor, removing the green stems.
  6. Add 3 tablespoons of maple syrup to the food processor and blend until you have a well mixed liquid. It should be thin.
  7. Sprinkle the tops of your pancakes with the diced fresh fruit and top with the blended sauce.
  8. Enjoy!

Toddler Twist: If your little one is too small for diced foods, blend all of the fruit up and omit the maple syrup. You can serve it blended on top of pancakes, or blend it with the pancakes, serve it as a smoothie, or let your little one enjoy it as a spoonfed puree.
